A couple of weeks ago, our friends from back in Texas visited us for the weekend! Even though they decided to wait almost a year to visit us up here so that we could learn our way around and be able to take them to the best spots, it still felt like we were the tourists 😀
Our busy weekend started with a Washington Capitals Game on Friday night, then a Capitol building tour and Natural History museum on Saturday, followed by the Air and Space museum on Sunday. Also interspersed with some sightseeing:

Mera has had a couple of busy weeks too. I took her to a hidden dog park with a stream that my coworker discovered. Mera actually didn’t mind the water and had so much fun with all the other little puppers! The only time she barked was when someone new entered the park, LOL. She’s so defensive that way.

I also decided to push her limits the other day with a 1.5 mile walk. I was originally going to take her 2 miles, but it quickly became clear to me that she was 100% over it :D. I stopped at the first bench on our path to give her water, and at every bench from there on out she stopped and pouted until I gave her more! This is her at the end of the walk after I opened my car door (she jumped right in even though I was trying to put her in the back).

Speaking of pushing our limits, I rediscovered what running with a buddy will do for your performance. A couple weeks ago I did a 5x800m workout at a nearby track (we live about 1.75 miles away from a high school), and these were my splits:

One week later, I came back with Jason, and this is how that same workout went:

I guess I was just trying to impress him or something! 😉 He didn’t run with me, but just him watching me run around the track was motivation enough to empty the tank haha.
Jason’s been gone for almost a week now, which means I don’t have a running buddy, but I do have lots of extra free time to make BREAD!

I used a super easy skillet bread recipe that took only about 2 hours from start to finish. I haven’t tried it yet because I’m so proud of how it turned out and I don’t want to cut into it 🙂 but it smells delish so I’ll probably have to sometime later today…
Happy Wednesday!
