So those headaches/allergies/chills turned out to be a week-long illness that I just couldn’t seem to shake 😦 I had a fever for a few days and finally started to feel on the mend by New Year’s. The one positive of this situation is that I love the idea of starting the New Year on a high after feeling so low for so many days. I bought these multivitamins from Whole Foods, vowing I was NOT going to get sick in 2024. We’ll see how that goes 😉

I think part of the reason I fell ill is because of all the traveling on top of running 30+ miles a week. My body is not used to running that much (when I’m not marathon training my weekly mileage is rarely > 20), but in 2024 I definitely want to start upping my mileage. I just need to make sure I’m resting and eating enough so that I don’t get sick or injured again.
Despite my not feeling well I still managed to “help” my Grandma make tamales for Christmas (I washed the husks- until I was crowded out of the kitchen). Jason and I took her shopping the day before:

And I browsed the A+ salsa section:

Before the tamales on Christmas Eve, Jason and I went to Whole Foods to pick up lunch. Even though I didn’t have much of an appetite, this meal was perfect.

After the Christmas festivities we flew back to Austin, had Christmas with Jason’s family, then drove all the way back to DC with our little passenger princess.

To Jason’s delight, we made it just in time for vision boarding and a cocktail before passing out at promptly 12:01.

Happy 2024!
