So Jason and I have been here in Alexandria for about a month and a half, and I just passed my one-month workaversary (which I learned was a significant event)– so you could say we’ve officially settled in!
I was initially unsure about living so far out of DC “proper,” and more so in the “suburbs,” as they say. However, I’ve come to really enjoy the area we’re in, and most importantly, the running routes 😉 (uninterrupted by stoplights and creepy men- mostly). The trail system in Arlington is actually top-tier. There are some great longer routes that span the entire city, as well as little pockets of natural areas with shorter walking trails. So the running in NOVA might be superior than the more urban parts of DC, but that’s not to say I didn’t get in a run past the White House, Washington Monument, and Lincoln Memorial one day after work:

For some reason I had it in my mind that we were going to get really into brunching in DC- what’s occurred more frequently, however, is that we’ve been frying it up at home. Ours is probably better anyway.

I love trying out new local brands whenever I go to a new place. I found this kombucha company at Giant called Tribucha. The flavor looked amazing and it was. I looked them up and apparently they’re based out of Cary, NC. Their website is absolutely wild.

Finally, Mera has been loving that Jason and I are now both working from home. Some days we’ll both go into the office but that’s few and far between, so for now she has to deal with me constantly bugging her during her mid-morning to late-afternoon nap 🙂

How do you like to explore a new city?
